Former employees of Mushi Production formed Madhouse in 1972. These high-skill animators consist of Masao Maruyama, Rintaro, Osamu Dezaki, and Yoshiaki Kawajiri. And since then they never looked back they have been providing hit anime one after another.

As Madhouse started growing they even recruited world-class directors like Satoshi Kon and also worked with famous Manga writers like Naoki Urasawa and CLAMP.

On February 8, 2011, Nippo TV became the largest shareholder in Madhouse. They bought about 128,667 new shares.

3. Kyoto Animation

Kyoto is one of the oldest and most respectable anime studios. They have provided much famous anime of all time. The studio was formed in the year 1981 married couple Yoko and Hideaki Hatta. And further became a corporation in the year in 1985 and 1999.

Why they are respected to this extent is the fact that they provide its proclivity for painterly backdrops, fluid action sequences, and beautiful character designs, and also they don’t rely on freelancers for their animation and work rather they have salary employees. Kyoto Animation Co., Ltd is a Japanese animation studio and light novel publisher which is located in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture.

Though their art and work have improved significantly over the years, the work and the character made by Kyoto animation are easily recognizable. They have maintained their work o high-quality style which separates them from others.

Though it was founded in 2000 and its first animation project was launched in the year 2002. Ufotable didn’t get a breakthrough till 2007. And after the release of The Garden of Sinners, its course fully changed. It started producing amazing anime thereafter. Ufotable is famously known for its Fate Series.

It has also provided us with anime like God Eater and Tales of Zestiria the X. And finally with the success of Demon Slayer it was totally on another level.

In March 2019 it was reported that a raid has been carried out on Ufotable on the charges of Tax Evasion. And it was reported that Ufotable owed 400 million yen in taxes.

Further, the studio’s founder and president, Hikaru Kondo, were charged with violating various Corporation Tax Law and the Consumption Tax Law. The studio failed to pay 139 million yen (approximately 1.28 million US dollars) in taxes. Thereafter company released a public statement apologizing for its actions.

Production I.G was founded on December 15, 1987, by Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and is located in Musashino, Tokyo, Japan. The letter I and G in the studio name depict the name of the founder of the company – producer Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and character designer Takayuki Goto.

Sunrise was formed by the ex-employees of Osamu Tezuka’s Mushi Production in 1972. But they don’t want to build just another studio instead they want to make something big. Their goal was to not prioritize the vision of any particular director but instead envisioned a group effort driven by the leadership of multiple producers.

And today this studio is one of the biggest and most renowned studios out there. You can just imagine how big this studio might be when it has 10 separate studios and each of the studios works on different projects and ideas. This studio is responsible for hundreds of anime out there and that to be in all countless different genres.

Their first project was an animated short that they prepared for the 20th Annual Japan National SF Convention, also known as Daicon III, which was held in the year 1981 in Osaka, Japan.

11. Wit Studio

WIT STUDIO, Inc. was founded on June 1, 2012, and is a subsidiary of Production I.G. Wit was founded by Producers of Production I.G the goal was to become a subsidiary of IG Port.

Unlike other studios, it had a grand opening as its first project was Attack On Titan which was an instant hit. And since then it is producing amazing anime such as Vinland Saga and others.

P.A Works even worked in the Video Game industry. They even started an ebook company that produces novelizations of their shows under the name of P.A Books. Their main headquarters at Toyama deals with digital photography, drawings, office production, and direction.

Studio bones were formed by a former employee of a sunrise studio in 1988. Since then they have been providing us with amazing animes. Bones was formed by Masahiko Minami, Toshihiro Kawamoto and Hiroshi Osaka. But later in the year 2007 on September 24 one of the studio’s co-founders, Hiroshi Osaka died at the age of 44.

Studio Bones is famously for its character designs. And among them, Angelic Layer, Scrapped Princess, and Darker than Black are the ones that were provided by Hiroshi Osaka. Bones one of the early work were a collaboration with studio sunrise on the project Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door. This was a feature film based on the anime Cowboy Bebop.
